The weather for the Royal British Legion event was bright, sunny and dry and the Band met in the Moorfield Car park at 09.30 hours and prepared to tune-up. There was a good turnout of 8 pipers and 5 drummers and the dress code was Day Dress with ribbons. On the way down to the Lemon Quay the members stopped for a warming cuppa in Weatherspoons. The Band had one slot at 10.30 hours and were ready to play in front of the Royal British Legion Poppy stand by 10.30 hours, marching in to form a circle they played for thirty minutes.

On show were World War Two vehicles, and motor bike and fire engine. Lemon Quay was buzzing with activity with onlookers and shoppers all enjoying the sparkling sunshine and ambience. The Mayor and Town Crier was present, and there was a Cornish Farmers’ market in progress, Lions Book stall, children’s roundabout, and food stalls. The crowd was appreciative and after dismissal the Band retired to Rowes Bakery for refreshment kindly provided by the Royal British Legion.

The event had had a lovely atmosphere, the Band had sounded their best, Andrew had been good on the Bass drum, standing in for the usual bass player and tunes played included the following – Amazing Grace, Highland Cathedral, Last of the Great Whales, Green Hills/Battles O’er, Scotland the Brave/Rowan Tree/ Wings/Bonny Galloway, Scotland the Brave/Mairi’s Wedding, Pack up your troubles/Tipperary/Home Fires, Cockney Jocks/Rainbow Country/Bluebells of Scotland.
